Pulling the Weeds
Protecting my peace by letting go of what no longer serves
I wish I could say that, at the start of this journey, I nourished my body with only good, nutritious food — that I fully lived by the saying, “you are what you eat.”
But the truth is, I ate whatever I wanted. My life had already changed so much, and I was working so hard just to reclaim pieces of myself, that I felt I deserved to eat freely — to allow food to simply be a source of comfort and joy.
Where I did become intentional, however, was in what I allowed to feed my spirit and soul. I paid close attention to what I listened to, what I watched, and who I surrounded myself with. This was the beginning of pulling weeds from my personal garden — removing the unnecessary people and things that no longer served me.
I took stock of everything and everyone in my orbit. My life felt so precious that I wanted to protect it, to make it a sacred, safe space. I built a strong wall with a sturdy gate — and I chose carefully when and for whom to open that gate.
What I found was that my world became smaller, but deeply fortified and infinitely richer. With fewer invitations came fewer worries. With fewer phone calls came deeper, more meaningful conversations. I made it my intention to be present, thoughtful, and deliberate in every aspect of my life.
It’s incredible how much static noise had been taking up space inside me. Once I cleared it away, I finally had room for what truly mattered — space to enrich my life in the ways that count.
Share the Light.

PS.
Now, as this journey continues, I’m turning my attention to nourishing my body with the same care I’ve given my soul. I’m learning that food can be both comfort and medicine, and I’m choosing to fill my plate with what truly supports my healing.
To start, here’s one of my favorite simple, healing recipes:
Brain & Body Healing Smoothie 🥬🍌
Light, energizing, and packed with ingredients that support brain health and calm inflammation.
Ingredients (serves 1–2):
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or oat milk)
1 frozen banana
1 cup fresh spinach (or kale)
½ avocado (for healthy fats + creaminess)
1 Tbsp chia seeds (or ground flaxseed)
½ cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
1 tsp turmeric + pinch of black pepper (for absorption)
Optional: 1 scoop plant-based protein powder
Instructions:
Place all ingredients into a blender.
Blend until smooth and creamy.
Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.
Why it heals:
Bananas and avocado provide potassium + magnesium to calm the nervous system.
Blueberries are rich in antioxidants for brain and body.
